Attention all students who are attending Prom or After Prom this year. An important email regarding attendance on the day of Prom will be going out to your parents this week. This past Wednesday, the National Honor Society participated in the first ever International Induction Ceremony to celebrate 100 years of NHS. Here, students from all over the world came together to commend one another on their high school accomplishments. NHS students were recognized for their scholarship, service, leadership, and character: all qualities that contributed to their acceptance into NHS. Guest speakers included many congressmen and senators, business executives, and actor/musician, Common. West G even got a shout-out at the end of the presentation that was broadcast worldwide. It was a great opportunity for scholars around the globe to unite while celebrating the success of our NHS students!


Monday, May 3rd will be this year’s Best Buddies Friendship Walk.

It’s from 1:30 - 2:30 pm on the track

ANYONE is welcome to join us for a walk after school!

Congratulations to the girls track team on winning the Wolverine Invitational this past Saturday AND also winning the Independence Invitational Tuesday night!

There were many great performances and it was truly a full team effort from the field to running events!

*At the Wolverine Invitational the following girls had some standout finishes:

-Freshman Maggie Furst won BOTH the shot put and discus

- Megan McGinnis - 1st in High Jump

-Bailey Zanella and Olivia Bartlett - 1st & 2nd in Long Jump

-Aubrey Zanella - 2nd in the 100 hurdles

*At the Independence Invitational:

-Grace Gyetko was 1st in the 2 mile, only missing the school record by less than 10 sec running a blistering 11:40!!

-Skye Hackathorn finished 1st in the mile

-Aubrey Zanella - 1st in the 100 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles

-Maggie Furst - 2nd in BOTH shot put and discus

-Shannon Swinerton - 2nd in the 200m dash

-Holly Hamilton - 2nd in the 400m dash

The Lady Wolverines won in dramatic fashion on Monday, pulling off a comeback victory over the Kirtland Hornets 8-7. Down three runs heading into the bottom of the seventh, the team strung together a powerful offensive performance to seal the deal.

Tara Gall and Shae Malone led the offense, each with a multi-hit performance; however, it truly was a team effort! The lady Wolverines improved to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the CVC. They play today at 5:00 PM at Parkside field against the Berkshire Badgers. Come support your Lady Wolverines!

The lady Wolverines were victorious over the Berkshire Badgers 10-2 on Friday afternoon. Jocelyn Moores earned the victory in the circle, and Keira Williams led the offense going 4 for 4 at the plate, including a homer in the fourth. Tara Gall and Shae Malone also hit one over the fence, adding to the run tally for a complete Wolverine victory.

Additionally, a shout out to Frankee Flesher and Tara Gall for being named two of the CVC Players of the Week in April. Congratulations, ladies!

The cold weather on Tuesday afternoon didn’t stop the Lady Wolverines’ bats from heating up as they soundly defeated Wickliffe, the only remaining undefeated CVC team. It was an overall team effort that led to secure the 15-5 run-rule victory.

The Junior varsity boys baseball team beat Chagrin for the first time since 2014, making a comeback of 8 runs after being down by 3 in the final inning. The final score was 14-8

The West Geauga Club Hockey Team is hosting a scrimmage event this Friday for anyone interested. Flyers will be posted in the office.

Haley Ottman led the Wolverines to victory in the pitcher's circle. Ottman surrendered five runs on six hits over five innings, striking out two. The Lady Wolverines improve to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the CVC. With this win, they keep themselves in the running to be on top of the CVC.

Any student wanting to take classes through the CCP program needs to turn in the CCP intent form by May 1st! You can find the intent form under the College Credit Plus tab on the high school website, or in the school counseling office.


The West Geauga Club Hockey Team is hosting a 4 x 4 scrimmage event this Friday for anyone interested in joining the team. Flyers will be posted and available in the office as well. Students can also email denise.garrett@westg.org.

We are so happy that all of you will get to experience the fun Senior end-of-year activities. One of those activities is SENIOR DECISION DAY! We will be celebrating all of the seniors' post high school plans on Monday, May 3rd during Senior English classes. The School Counselors will be holding this event in Room 124. If you do not have an English class at the high school please stop in during a study hall or free time. We will be asking each senior to be prepared to indicate what they plan on doing after graduation. A certificate will be created to celebrate that plan whether it is the world of work, military, or school. A picture will be taken of each student signing their certificate. Do not forget to wear gear that represents your plan! There will be a brief survey in Naviance that will need to be completed. This is an important survey as it will help determine where final transcripts get sent. Please remember to bring your chromebook and Naviance login information. Another part of the survey requests information about scholarships that have been awarded. Please try to compile that information too. Congratulations to all of you and the best of luck as you continue your journey!

Attention students, there are many announcements regarding attendance during AIR testing:

· No students will be permitted to sign out and leave early during testing times. No passes will be delivered to classes during testing times.

· Excel Tecc, and Auburn Career Center students who are sitting for exams but have afternoon classes with their programs will report to their programs at their normal times. Transportation schedules are not adjusted during the testing days.

· Online students who need to report to the school to take their end-of-course exams will be permitted to leave school after the scheduled test session ends. 1st and 5th period teachers will not mark you tardy, but you are expected to be online as soon as you get home. If online students do not have rides home at the conclusion of the test, they can sit in study hall and join classes via Zoom.

· Unless you have a previously approved late arrival for morning classes or early dismissal for afternoon classes, students are expected to attend all classes and study halls.

The West Geauga Wolverines sailed to an easy victory over Cardinal 21-3 on Tuesday.

Cardinal got things moving in the first inning, but the Wolverines tied it up in the bottom of the first, pulling away for good with ten runs in the second inning.  Haley Ottman took the win, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four and walking zero in two innings. Keira Williams, Olivia Moores, and Jocelyn Moores also put in work on the mound, steering their team towards the victory.
The Wolverines had 13 hits in the game. Keira Williams, Shae Malone, Tara Gall, and Frankee Flesher each had multiple hits. Williams led the Wolverines with three hits in three at bats.  The Wolverines improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the CVC.

The girls track team competed in their first meet Saturday at Crestwood. They finished sixth out of twelve teams and had a few standout performances.

-The 4x800m relay team of Grace Gyetko, Julia Martinez, Taylor Deets, and Skye Hackathorn finished 2nd. Megan McGinnnis also finished 2nd in the high jump. Grace Gyetko finished 4th in the mile

The Lady Wolverines softball team shut out Chagrin Falls in dramatic fashion on Friday night, winning 18-0. Olivia Moores had all the right stuff on Friday for West Geauga, allowing zero runs and besting Chagrin Falls by a score of 18-0.  Shea Malone led the Wolverines to victory by driving in four runs. Malone went 3-for-3 at the plate, firing up the offense in the first inning when she tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Later that same inning, she hit another triple to keep the momentum going.
Moores took the win for West Geauga, allowing two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out one.  The Wolverines totaled 20 hits in the game. Lauren Kretschman, Keira Williams, Malone, Tara Gall, Haley Ottman, Frankee Flesher, and Julia Clark each had multiple hits for West Geauga. Gall, Malone, Williams, and Kretschman each collected three hits to lead West Geauga Wolverines. West Geauga didn't commit a single error in the field.
