Speaking of scholarships, The West Geauga Education Association will be offering a scholarship to a senior who will begin his/her freshman year in college in the fall of 2021. Applicants must be pursuing a career in education, or be the son or daughter of an educator. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a career in education. Academic achievement, community involvement, and activities will also be considered. See your guidance counselor for an application. The deadline is March 12.

Congratulations to sophomore Ashley Chase for a fantastic showing at the State Swimming Championships yesterday! She finished 13th in the state in the 200 freestyle, and 11th in the state in the 100 freestyle! Way to go!!

Attention Track and Field athletes, there is a mandatory Zoom meeting TODAY at 3pm. A link was sent to your school email if you signed up using the Google Form.

Unless you are at practice for a winter sport, EVERYONE must attend this meeting to begin practicing Tuesday. Attendance will be taken. If you are not in attendance due to a winter sport you need to let Coach Taurasi or Coach Boylan know ahead of time.

Congratulations to the swim team for an outstanding showing at sectionals this past Friday. Asa, Rebecca Whitmer, and Catelyn Chase. Going as alternates are Lauren Keck and Lillian Meyer. Congrats to all!!


Teachers and students- if you borrow a chromebook for the day please make sure you return it to Ms. Thrasher by the end of the day. You can easily identify if it is one that needs returned because it looks like this (show chromebook) and is missing a camera. If you have one that looks like this, please return it asap. There have been many borrowed and not returned.

Congratulations to West Geauga's Academic Decathlon team. This past Saturday, the 10 members of the team successfully defended their Division 2 state champion status for the fourth year in a row, They also finished third in the state overall. A special congratulations to Sofya Goncharenko, Noah Carty, and Liz Piekarski for their extremely high scores.

The Maltz Museum of Jewish History presents its annual STOP THE HATE essay contest inviting all high school students to pen a personal essay in 500 words or less about bias they have witnessed or experienced and share what they have done or will do in response.The deadline for grades 9-10 is March 19 and the deadline for grades 11-12 is March 26. Please see your English teacher for further details.

Attention all high schoolers interested in playing Baseball this spring. The Baseball coaching staff would like to get an exact count of the students interested in playing baseball this spring.  Even if you have played in the past or are currently receiving a baseball email you need to sign up again.  This will help us plan practices and tryouts better in the covid environment. We are currently planning on having all three levels of teams.
