On Wednesday, May 20, at 6:30 P.M., join LEAF for "Making Sense of the College Award Letter." This VIRTUAL Resource Center Session is designed for HS seniors still struggling with college decisions due to Covid-19, and juniors who are planning ahead. Generally, award letters contain the same overall information, but there is no standard format so they can be difficult to understand. During this session, attendees will learn how to read the award letters they receive after college acceptance, and understand the information that is included on them so that they can more easily compare schools and determine which college may be the best fit.

Please Register at https://leaf-ohio.org/resource-center-sessions/ or call 440.525.7095 to reserve your virtual seat. LEAF is a non-profit college access agency, delivering career and college access advisory programs that connect individuals to their best-fit careers.

West Geauga Schools is closed to students beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, through April 3, 2020. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine directed the closure in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus. During this closure, all school activities and events will be canceled or postponed. Athletic practices and games are canceled from Friday, March 13, 2020, through April 3, 2020.

Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, teachers will provide instruction to students through the use of technology. All high school students have school email accounts. Students are expected to check their email and Google accounts from home beginning on March 30, 2020. Provisions are being made for students who do not have devices and internet access at home. If you are one of those students, please complete the Google Form that was emailed to your families last night.

All school books and class resources will need to be brought home with you at the end of the school day on Friday, March 13, 2020. Students are not permitted back in the building during the closure to access lockers.

This is an unknown and unchartered time for all of us. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and patience as we try to manage academics during the virus outbreak. We hope that all of you stay healthy over this extended break.

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is China's most important festival. In order to deepen the understanding of the Chinese culture and traditions, students in Chinese classes are going to have a Chinese New Year parade and celebration. First, the Chinese New Year Parade will start at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Feb. 19 in the hallways. Students will have a Chinese Dragon Dance and Fan Dance. The Chinese dragon has very different connotations from the western dragon. The Chinese dragon is a spiritual and cultural symbol that represents prosperity and good luck, as well as a rain deity that fosters harmony. The dragon dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. They are believed to bring good luck to people, therefore the longer the dragon is in the dance, the more luck it will bring to our school. Second, we will have a Chinese New Year celebration during Period 5A on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in Room 124. Students in Chinese 1 will sing songs and dance. If you are interested in Chinese culture, you are welcome to come to watch the performance.
